under your kisses I trembled in horror
as if you were lighting candles on my skin
they knew that with the grain they also sold the earth

when the ground completely disappeared beneath their feet

I really should have listened to you earlier
how long I would have loved you
at the foot of the holy mountain
the arch dedicated
to the glow of palms
breathless fields
I paddled with the frequency of a hummingbird
