The collection Wittgensteinian Ethics aims to present one of the lesser-known, yet no less interesting, directions in Anglo-Saxon ethics, which draws on anti-theoretical, philosophical-psychological, and Platonic motifs in the thinking of Ludwig Wittgenstein. The texts in many respects develop similar themes as those presented in the collections Ethics Problems I and II – particularly regarding the critique of the prevailing legalistic conception of ethics and the related notions of action and responsibility, as well as the emphasis on a more complex moral psychology, including the examination of emotional responses such as regret or compassion. At the same time, they offer a more radical critique of the mainstream analytical method with its penchant for schematic examples. The focus of moral value here is the relationship to the other person, who is fully and clearly perceived as a second human being.
