The book Shared Images presents a broadly themed transformation of the literary culture of Eastern Bohemia in the period after 1989. The individual chapters, richly illustrated, discuss specific, necessarily selective examples of the development of prose and poetry, present the issues of regional anthologies, literary magazines, and publishing houses, and examine questions of care for literary heritage within editorial practice or the formation of a literary map as a living reminder of historical and literary contexts. The definition of the region understood within the borders of the former East Bohemian region suggests that the local literary life is not limited to isolated centers but naturally permeates into the national levels of literary culture. At first glance, the diverse themes are united by an emphasis on the dynamic shaping of literary culture within a constant dialogue consisting of defining itself against tradition on one hand and seeking new paths on the other, or conversely, in the effort to affirm the continuity of the past and present.
