Města a měšťané perem badatelky – Růčková Markéta (2022)

The book presents a collection of studies by historian and archivist Olga Fejtová, published between 1988 and 2020 in both Czech and foreign periodicals and collected works, focusing on various aspects of the history of towns and their elites in the early modern period, specifically using the examples of Loun and the towns of Prague. This new, collected edition of fifteen essays by Olga Fejtová, in which the author contributes to the understanding of key issues in the history of post-medieval towns based on Prague sources and also archival material from Loun, will significantly aid further scientific use of these texts – which have often been less accessible or have evaded the attention they deserve. Among the topics addressed in this publication, realized on the occasion of the author's life anniversary, it is essential to mention the economic and social structure of the urban population, property ownership, inter-city relations, migration, the national situation, and confessional conditions in urban communities, urban (self)government, and the (variously definable) milieu of urban elites. The book also includes an introductory reflection by Jiří Pešek on the accessible collection of texts, which succinctly summarizes the significance of the jubilarian's research. J.
