Kniha o Kladském pomezí – Ježek Jan (2022)

The Kladské Pomezí – a Czech-Polish region on the border of Eastern Bohemia and Lower Silesia. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and interesting areas of Central Europe. Jan Ježek has attempted in his book to capture and bring closer the cultural and natural beauties of this wonderful corner through words and images. The author guides us through the landscape via stories that reveal the peculiarities of the local nature and cultural phenomena typical of Kladské Pomezí. This is all complemented by a large number of photographs taken over the last twenty years, with many attractive places and natural and cultural sites captured in this form for the very first time. The author's undeniable strength lies in his portrayal of the exceptional landscape and how local people have cultivated and transformed it from wilderness into a cultural landscape, regardless of state borders. In the first part of the book, we find extensive chapters dedicated to Mount Sléza and the Kamenné, Sovi, and Brdské Mountains, which lie in Polish territory. On the Czech side of the border, the landscape of the still underappreciated Jestřebí and Javoří Mountains is similarly described.
