Beschreibung
The book Original Inhabitants and Globalization is unique in many ways. Based on experiences and insights from long-term field research, the author team reflects on the current situation of indigenous peoples across five continents. In five thematic sections, each presenting a specific perspective, the book examines the impacts of global processes on indigenous peoples and the complex network of interrelations, where they do not have to be merely passive victims, but can also influence the shape of these relations themselves. In the Czech-Slovak context, this book is the first publication providing a comprehensive view of the issues facing indigenous peoples in the context of the contemporary globalizing or glocalizing world. The book is intended for Czech and Slovak readers from both professional and lay backgrounds, as well as students of anthropology, ethnology, political science, sociology, cultural studies, environmental studies, geography, and other disciplines interested in indigenous peoples.
