The book Autonomy in Dialogue is part of a broader project that examines Kant's 'invention' of autonomy through conversations with selected figures from the European philosophical tradition. What truth is there to the suspicion that autonomy, understood as the self-relation of a rational subject, is incapable of adequately relating to otherness – whether that otherness refers to another person, the world, or the otherness of God? Must we abandon this fundamental Kantian idea, along with the entire tradition of 'egological' rationality, or is it possible to improve it with impulses from Kant's successors or opponents? This volume invites readers to reflect on these questions alongside B. Spinoza, A. Schopenhauer, F. Nietzsche, M. Heidegger, K. Jaspers, or J. Patočka...
