Beschreibung
Georges Canguilhem, a student and successor of Gaston Bachelard at the head of the Institute d’histoire des sciences et des techniques, ranks among the most significant figures of French thought in the 20th century. Canguilhem was a professor at the Sorbonne in Paris, where his students included Michel Foucault, Gilbert Simondon, Gilles Deleuze, and Jacques Derrida. He is an author who remains largely undiscovered in our environment, and his significant work from 1955, The Normal and the Pathological, was published in its first Czech translation only in 2017. The presented collection contains texts delivered at the first international conference held in the Czech Republic dedicated to this thinker. It brings reflections on the fundamental themes of Canguilhem's thought, including the relationship between the normal and the pathological, the problem of life and its understanding, the history of medicine, and the theory of health.
