Beschreibung
After the debut collection Swallowing Feathers (Pavel Mervart, 2019), Josef Kučera comes out with a second collection titled Side Effects of Silence. The dominant theme of the collection is silence, which on one hand symbolizes calm, a space for internal reflection and assessment, but on the other hand is inevitably a source of possible misunderstanding and tension, which is often reflected in the poems. Thematically and graphically, it follows the previous collection Swallowing Feathers, but brings poems with a more consistent poetics and a civil expression. The collection includes both previously unpublished poems and poems that have been published in the meantime in magazines such as Host, Tvar, Revue Pandora, and Protimluv.
