Originally, I was not interested in Urtika as a local person with his limited preference for the history of Komotau. However, through a deeper exploration of his work, I began to understand this historian, who stands on the fringes of interest, or rather this city and chronicle writer, as a typical case of early modern city chronicling in the Bohemian lands. My originally intended essay became longer and longer and eventually transformed into the present treatise that has arisen from this research. I primarily focus on Urtika's work and attempt to uncover the historical consequences and contexts through an investigation from a historical standpoint. The present work presents the results of a two-year investigation into Urtika's chronicle, which is based significantly on the evaluation of previously unexamined or inadequately explored source material.
