Krása spasí svět – Sládek Karel (2016)

The famous quote from Dostoevsky's novel The Idiot, "Beauty will save the world," which gave its name to this collective monograph, opened the question that the collective of authors of this book attempted to answer: "What beauty will save the world?" The scholarly monograph was created based on scientific discussions and colloquia at the Catholic Theological Faculty of Charles University in Prague. In addition to the faculty's academic staff, experts from the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Diocesan Theological Institute in Hradec Králové, as well as the Faculty of Education of the University of Hradec Králové, were invited to collaborate. From abroad, professors from the Italian Catholic University of Brescia and the Community of Bose, as well as from the Slovenian Faculty of Theology at the University of Ljubljana, participated. The individual parts of the book correspond to the authors' specializations, with an emphasis on grounding the topics primarily in theological reflection. Thus, there is an Old Testament approach, an analysis of the medieval Christian text The Cave of Treasures, a connection between beauty and spiritual life, perspectives from significant Catholic theologians, as well as Czech thinkers and writers. The chapters reveal the idea that beauty will indeed save the world.
