Beschreibung
The monograph Patočka's Interpretations of Literature deals with a range of texts by Jan Patočka, in which the author engages in analyses of literary materials and reflections on literature, writers, and writing. The first part of the book presents texts that testify to Patočka's view on the relationship between literature and myth, while the second part contains texts dedicated to the relationship between literature and philosophy. The authors strive to understand Patočka's perspective on the origin of poetry in myth and the life of mythological themes in literature. At the same time, they show how Patočka conceives the philosophical reconstruction of poetic experience and how his interpretative approach relates to his analyses of human existence. Attention is given to both published and unpublished Patočka texts from the 1930s and 1940s, but primarily to texts from the 1960s and 1970s. Patočka's significant philosophical treatises are examined, as well as occasional studies, reviews, lectures, and preparatory texts.
