A collection of prose focused on the second half of the 20th century, it has a humorous, grotesque, and tragicomic character. The characters, who find themselves in unusual situations for various reasons, are ambitious to achieve something, to express themselves, and to transcend their ordinariness. The prose is appealing and artistically substantial reading due to its storyline, subtle sense of detail, and overall grasp of the problem. Parodic literary motifs and contemporary totalitarian mechanisms play an important role in them, which do not take on a transparent form in prose representation, yet they affect - sometimes more openly, sometimes just subtly and inconspicuously - various spheres of a deformed but nonetheless humanly saturated and interesting lifestyle.
