There is no more beautiful moment for a hunter than walking through a silent forest in the company of a single true friend – a hunting dog.
The author tells mainly the stories of experienced hunting dogs, old veterans who know their way around the forest and in hunting. Stories of dogs with blood as pure as crystal, but also of those whose blood is diluted with various admixtures of ordinary dogs, yet they hold their own on the hunting trail. These are also somewhat improbable tales of dogs with fiery eyes and fur black as night.
It is no coincidence that it is said that a dog is man's best friend. The bond between a hunting dog and its master – the hunter – is even stronger. The term master is not the most appropriate; rather, friend.
One thing is certain: as long as there are hunters and hunting dogs, there will be an admirable bond of friendship between them.
