At first glance, thirteen-year-old Markéta is just like any other girl. Few people realize that she doesn't have it easy at home. Markéta's stepfather Martin is becoming increasingly strict with her. He punishes her unnaturally, and her mother tries to ignore it. It gets to the point where Markéta is increasingly afraid of him, and although she tries not to provoke him unnecessarily, she doesn't always succeed. Then comes a heated situation where Markéta panics and runs away from her stepfather. What now? Markéta is afraid to return home and has nowhere to go. She becomes a girl on the run. She has nothing to eat, nowhere to sleep. However, life brings her someone who decides to help her. Will Markéta believe that by accepting a helping hand, she can more easily find a solution with someone else's help, or will fear overcome her and she will run away again?
