Beschreibung
The plot of the new historical novel by experienced prose writer Zdeněk Pošíval unfolds like an exciting film. Set in the Pelhřimov region in 1671, a herd of noble horses suddenly dies at Bukov Castle, and their keeper is found with a shot-off head. This catastrophe upends the life of the local nobleman and his family. A number of individuals become involved in the search for the causes and perpetrator of the crime, from whom the main hero and narrator of this dramatic story emerges – the nobleman's son, Jožík. Step by step, he uncovers the secrets of the past and reveals the mysterious Satan who triggered the bloody drama. The author vividly paints the period atmosphere and, like an experienced director, stages a passionate theater full of love, sin, greed, and violence, but also wisdom and reconciliation. He does not strive for historical accuracy but rather for a parallel that shows that while the world changes, human nature endures.
