Spring of 868. A fleet of 80 ships from Nourmountier off the French coast heads south. On board are Rolf Rapkaft, his friend Hastein, brother Jarvis, and Ylva, along with Bjorn Jernside, Sigurd Slangeoje, Halfdan Hvidsark, and another two thousand Vikings. The destination is Muslim Spain, where plunder is expected to be easy. Many cities have fallen, and the ships are full of silver, but when the fleet comes under attack, one ship is left isolated in the Mediterranean Sea. Someone begins to kill the crew one by one, and it falls to Rolf to figure out who. The raids of the sons are based on true events. This book is the second part of a historical trilogy about the early days of the Vikings.
