Therefore, members of the Reform Club considered it outrageously audacious when the English gentleman Phileas Fogg declared that he could complete such a journey in exactly eighty days. And to convince everyone that he was serious, he backed his words with a bet of an incredible twenty thousand pounds... That same day, he sets off on an adventurous journey with his servant Passepartout. The book has been adapted into several films, and for the youngest children, even as a television series where animated animals play the roles of the novel's heroes. The illustrations are by Leon Benett and Jiří Miňovský.
