Medicínské a salutogenní přístupy – Velemínský Miloš (2015)

The monograph focuses on the connection between medical and salutogenic approaches to prenatal and postnatal care for pregnant women and their newborns. The first main objective of the study was to evaluate salutogenic and medical practices among Czech pregnant women and propose options for their integration. The authors assessed vaginal births as physiological and cesarean sections as births with intervention. In evaluating the salutogenic area, there are a number of indicators that indicate a partial absence of some of these approaches. It turned out that there are significant differences in cesarean births compared to vaginal births, in the sense that women with vaginal births had statistically significantly fewer interventions. The second main objective of the study was to evaluate salutogenic and medical approaches among women from Vietnam, Ukraine, and Mongolia. The perinatal mortality rate among immigrants in the Czech lands is very low – several times lower than in their home countries. This indicates a high level of medical approaches in the Czech Republic dedicated to immigrants. However, salutogenic approaches are problematic. Addressing them will require more time.
