Věda, medicína, politika a Já – Syková Eva (2023)

The book by Professor MUD. Eva Syková, DrSc. chronicles the fate of a woman who had to face many obstacles in life and yet, through her extraordinary tenacity and diligence, achieved the status of a doctor, scientist, mother, and politician. She is known as a scientific researcher focused on brain research, the study of neurological diseases, and their modern treatment. Her research on new signal transmission in the brain, the study of the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, pioneering research, and clinical applications of stem cells have gained international recognition. She has always emphasized the implementation of new scientific findings into medical practice. She was the director of the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Czech Academy of Sciences for 15 years, the head of the Institute of Neuroscience at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, the chair of the Czech Head jury, the vice-chair of the Government Council for Science, Research, and Innovation, the chair of several committees of grant agency sections, a member of various scientific councils of medical institutions, and a member of editorial boards of international journals. She holds several patents and is a co-author of four clinical studies.
