Some houses have interesting fates intertwined with the people who live in them. In the Adda villa lived generations of the Fischl-Rybiček family, whose lineage dates back to the thirteenth century. What life stories, dramas, and joys will the members of this family encounter? Václav Junek's novel is a literary saga in the style of Forsyth, but set in a purely Czech environment. The plot loosely traverses the twentieth century and, with a somewhat open ending, extends to the present day. Against the backdrop of the story, real events, places, and personalities of Prague and especially the Beroun region come to life.
