The Nobel Prize was first awarded in 1901. It can be awarded to individuals who have made significant discoveries and inventions in physics, chemistry, physiology, and medicine, as well as those who have created outstanding literary works and contributed to the strengthening of world peace. The selection of candidates for any of the Nobel Prizes is not simple and usually does not go without critical remarks. There is always someone who feels that the prize should have gone to someone else who perhaps deserved it more.
