After the euro crisis and the migration crisis, the integration project has faced three more turbulent situations. Since the last edition of the textbook in 2016, the European integration project has undergone three tests of its stability and ability to respond collectively to the development of unexpected events. At the end of June 2016, the citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland voted in a referendum to leave the European Union. Since spring 2019, the society and economy of the member states have been forced to deal with the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. At the beginning of 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, necessitating a clear response from the EU to the aggressor's behavior. The impact of the crises on the European integration project is addressed in a completely new chapter dedicated to examples of the EU's response to various types of crises it has faced since its inception.
