Beschreibung
Testimonies from bygone eras, stories mostly originating from Norman noble families whose members ventured into our Central European region from the distant British Isles. English, Scottish, and Irish noble families who acquired estates, later large estates, in Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia. Many members of these families earned their estates in the Czech lands through various deeds in favor of the Habsburg and Habsburg-Lorraine imperial house. Each of the described families is introduced with a family coat of arms, introducing previously unusual figures of bizarre shield bearers from distant Celtic-Norman mythology into the Czech environment. Following are sections describing not only the coat of arms but also the ancient foreign origins and successes of these families over the past centuries, and finally the fates of family members active in the Czech lands. The cherry on top of the knowledge in this book is the introduction to the noble residences that provided shelter for them in Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia, which the members of these families enhanced or built anew, thereby enriching the genius loci of the Czech landscape.
