Beschreibung
Engaging, mostly little-known stories from the history of Prague that we won't find in history textbooks, even though they are part of history, testimonies of their time, its customs and morals, and the social atmosphere. In the colorful mosaic of old Prague images, we will read about the fate of the oldest plane tree in Prague, planted in the 13th century by the Knights of Malta, about the first statue on Charles Bridge, or the story of the Prague Infant Jesus. We will find ourselves in the courtyard of Emperor Rudolf II, witness the Battle of White Mountain, the Old Town execution, and the fight against the Swedes. We will meet the first Prague café owner, the first pharmacists, and the last executioner of Prague. We will also get acquainted with the realities of life in a medieval city, with the judicial system of the time, punishments, and prisons, as well as the colorfulness of Baroque, Rococo, and Biedermeier Prague.
