The humorous book by Petr Luňák, Scholars, belongs to the genre of the university novel popular in Anglo-Saxon countries, but rather unique in the domestic context. Scholars is a continuation of the novel Heroes (2014), co-written with Marek Pečenka, and both books are connected by the character of Richard Míča, now a university lecturer, with pronounced autobiographical traits. With great bravura and irony, the book depicts the peculiar atmosphere of the early 90s, its uncertainties and hopes, opportunism, and the willingness of the 'scholars' to adopt a completely unscientific approach to life when it comes to career or love.
