Beschreibung
The second edition of a collection of essays that has been published every Tuesday in Lidové noviny since the days of samizdat. The book was first published in 2002 and has long been hopelessly sold out. Recently, its continuation was released, essays from 2002 to 2008 titled Wooden Mind. "With the sensitivity that only an extraordinary personality possesses, succinctly, wittily, and interestingly, Vaculík finds and names the causes of the ailments that gnaw at the body and soul of our society, with a brilliant literary style unmatched since K. Čapek, he fights for the normal person and their dignified, meaningful life," Ivan Klíma once aptly wrote, and it holds true to this day. When we read Vaculík's essays in retrospect as a whole, we find that they are not only still alive, even though they concern past events, but we also more clearly feel that proverbial unconventionality and originality of thought that defines Vaculík.
