The book provides clear information, recommendations from professional societies, as well as new insights and opinions from specialists regarding vascular access (VA) in hemodialysis patients. Individual chapters cover topics from pre-dialysis care and patient preparation for surgical procedures, through monitoring, surveillance of dialysis accesses, imaging methods, to possible complications of the access and their solutions. The introductory chapter, which deals with anatomy, indications, and surgery of VA, is logically followed by a chapter on anesthesia. Subsequent chapters summarize the issues from the perspectives of nephrologists and cardiologists. A separate chapter details central venous catheters for dialysis. A new chapter has been added focusing on non-standard vascular accesses.
