Headaches remain a significant burden for many patients – despite the great advances in modern medicine. Although most headaches are not associated with mortality or long-term consequences, they are conditions that significantly impair quality of life. Emphasizing quality of life is one of the hallmarks of advanced medicine. However, it is necessary for this approach to be implemented in widespread medical practice and for individuals suffering from headaches to receive modern effective treatment. This publication has been prepared with this goal in mind, with the main author – Prof. MUDr. Ivana Štětkářová, CSc. – inviting several other neurologists specializing in headache treatment to contribute. The book is divided into three sections, the first presenting various types of migraines, the second dedicated to secondary headaches, and the third to facial pain. Each chapter consists of two parts – the first is a case study, while the second serves as a textbook text introducing physicians to classification, diagnosis, and options for modern treatment. The headache guide in the form of a case study textbook is intended for clinical practice as well as for preparation for specialization exams in neurology and other relevant fields.
