Neinvazivní mozková stimulace v psychiatrii – Klírová Monika (2022)

Despite significant advances in understanding the causes of psychiatric disorders, many of them remain difficult to treat. However, psychiatry currently has new therapeutic strategies based on understanding their underlying mechanisms. Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) techniques have been confirmed as safe methods with a wide range of effects: from influencing molecular processes, modifying neural networks, to affecting behavioral processes and treating specific symptoms in neuropsychiatric disorders. This publication presents the basic NIBS methods that have already found clinical use in psychiatric treatment, specifically repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, transcranial direct current stimulation, and transcranial alternating current stimulation. It introduces the basic principles of the mentioned methods, their mechanisms of action, and parameters. Furthermore, it describes the basic safety rules for their application (contraindications and side effects) and presents clinical recommendations (indications) for use in specific diagnoses. The publication will be released under the auspices of the Czech National Psychiatric Society.
