The fourth, revised, and expanded edition of the practical guide (small in size but substantial and dense in content) is coming, summarizing all aspects of preoperative examination in one place in such a way that the text allows for quick access to the information needed to assess a specific patient – i.e., to find a specific solution in a given situation, to separate essential information from detailed information, and at the same time to provide sufficient justification to any interested parties as to why such an approach is recommended. This is a guide for clinical practice, not a work attempting to exhaustively summarize all opinion aspects and pathophysiological analyses related to the issue. The new edition is evidence that this publication has been accepted by clinics as a useful tool for clinical practice. Another reason for the reissue of this book is the fact that related international recommendations are often very extensive, making navigation through them time-consuming and difficult. Additionally, some procedures are not suitable for our medicine because the organization of practical medicine is different, or we use certain examination methods or pharmacological approaches with different frequencies.
