Dětská endokrinologie do kapsy – Pomahačová Renata (2021)

The aim of the publication is to provide primarily general practitioners for children and adolescents, as well as pediatricians in inpatient departments, with clear and comprehensible information about the most common disorders of the endocrine system in children and adolescents, thus contributing to the early detection of often serious endocrine diseases. Individual chapters are dedicated to growth disorders, puberty, thyroid issues, adrenal glands, water metabolism, descent of the testicles, calcium-phosphate metabolism, and childhood diabetes. Each chapter begins with a brief general characterization of the disease. This is followed by case reports through which the authors highlight clinical and laboratory findings leading to the final diagnosis of the respective endocrinopathy. At the end of each chapter, recommendations for practice regarding diagnosis and treatment are provided, based on both general observations and the authors' own experiences. The text is always supplemented with visual documentation, and the chapter on growth disorders in children additionally includes pathological growth curves.
