With keratoconus, or other ectatic diseases of the cornea, although they are relatively rare clinical entities, practically every ophthalmologist will encounter them during their practice. This publication, prepared by a team of authors led by Assoc. Prof. MUDr. Pavel Studený, Ph.D., MHA, aims to provide field ophthalmologists, physicians in postgraduate training, and other colleagues with the maximum current information about this disease. While the causes and mechanisms of keratoconus are not yet fully understood, modern diagnostic methods and treatment procedures have significantly changed ophthalmologists' approach to patients with corneal ectasias in recent years.
