The authors of the book Východočeské hory chose an unconventional format to introduce readers to one of the most geographically and scenically diverse areas of Bohemia. They report on selected mountains, the highest, most significant, and most visited on one hand, but also on those that are almost unknown to the general public or even completely inaccessible on the other, in an encyclopedic manner, so we can learn almost everything about them. This publication significantly differs from travel-focused books, which generally limit themselves to a narrow range of selected information, often endlessly copied and paraphrased, and sometimes presented in a distorted or even completely erroneous manner. Similarly, it differs from specialized or strictly academic literature, which usually addresses the issue from a one-sided perspective, based on a specific discipline, and often at a level that is difficult for the general public to access. The presented publication, on the other hand, aims for 'multidisciplinarity' - it introduces knowledge, facts, and curiosities from the perspective of all fields, in a form accessible even to readers without deeper knowledge in individual sciences.
