An unknown monster threatens international shipping, and so oceanographer Pierre Aronnax and his companions join an expedition to track down and destroy the pest. However, it resists and captures the group. They find themselves aboard the futuristic submarine Nautilus, commanded by the mysterious, charismatic Captain Nemo. He fiercely hates civilization and has lived for years hidden in his metal cocoon in the depths of the sea, wandering the oceans, exploring wrecks, and attacking ships. The Nautilus now embarks on a long exploratory journey. It sails over underwater forests, coral graveyards, deep ocean trenches, and the ruins of Atlantis. Majestic sea creatures, secret underwater passages, incredible treasures of the deep, a battle with a giant octopus, a burial at sea – each day brings even more surprising wonders than the last, all infused with oppressive danger and the joy of discovery. However, Nemo alternates between sorrowful melancholy and furious outbursts of rage, and it is clear to the hostages that he will not let them go alive. Who exactly is Captain Nemo? Where does his desire for revenge stem from? Will our three friends escape?
