Anna ze zeleného domu – Montgomeryová Lucy Maud (2021)

Farmer Matěj Cuthbert and his somewhat stern sister Marila decided to take in a child from the orphanage – a boy, to later help them with the farm. However, they had no idea that Matěj would bring home a talkative red-haired girl – a small, thin, pale Anna, joyful, sincere, outspoken, temperamental, and imaginative. Anna has endured a bleak journey from one foster home to another and a stay in the orphanage. She possesses a developed sense for all things beautiful, and life pulsates within her, filled with imaginative ideas. Although she ended up with the Cuthberts by mistake, they certainly won't send her back! Marila quickly adapts to the role of caregiver and tries to rein in Anna's wild imagination and her innocent desire for all things beautiful. However, Anna's inner world and her longing for closeness, harmony, and beauty inevitably shine through and transform Marila, the other characters in the novel, and of course, the readers. The author depicts Anna's dreams and adventures in the forests and meadows around Green Gables, her friendships and quarrels with local girls and boys – all in many amusing and touching incidents. Her unconditional friendship with the more cautious and conventional Diana, who adds (at least most of the time) a bit of restraint to Anna's antics...
