Beschreibung
This Czech-language textbook is the first part of a two-part project and is intended for pupils in the first year of practical primary school; the second part is intended for pupils in the second year. It follows the national framework curriculum supplement for educating pupils with mild intellectual disabilities. The first third of the book uses pictures, while special exercises develop the basic abilities needed for reading instruction. They focus on pupils’ speech skills, including vocabulary and correct pronunciation, practise following a line from left to right, enrich vocabulary with new and superordinate terms, and introduce concepts important for learning to read, such as small, large, above and below. Differentiation exercises develop visual and auditory perception. Through comparing and matching, pupils learn to focus their attention on the shared and different features of objects. The book then introduces all vowels and the consonants m, l, v, t, s and j, teaching pupils to form and read mainly open syllables, two-syllable words and simple sentences. Reading cursive writing follows the practice of writing the letters and corresponds with the handwriting books for the first year of practical primary school. Block-letter reading is included mainly for pupils who find reading difficult. The textbook is illustrated by Edita Plicková.
