Beschreibung
A collection of literary-historical studies in which the author outlines the development of Slovak prose. The emphasis is primarily on its poetics. He also compares the prose contexts of Czech and Slovak literature. The interpretation begins with the unique work of Jozef Ignác Bajza and ends with members of the generation of Vincent Šikula. Other studies are dedicated, for example, to the historical novella by J. M. Hurban, the novels of Terézia Vansová, Martin Kukučín, Márie Topolská, Ivan Hudec, Dobroslav Chrobák, Ladislav Ballek, and others. The book is accompanied by studies from Slovak literary historians Zoltán Rédey and Lubomír Plesník titled Morphological Crossovers into Slovak Prose. The volume is supplemented by a Dictionary of Lesser-Known Terms, a factual and name index.
