The series of textbooks Czech Language for the First Stage of Primary School is part of the publishing series Damn Czech. The content is based on the framework educational program for basic education. Its structure and didactic approach build on the publishing series Czech Language with Tobiáš, meaning it emphasizes a clear and algorithmically organized presentation of the material, visually uncluttered pages, and consistent explanations of linguistic concepts in language that corresponds to the cognitive prerequisites of first-stage students. In this, we were also inspired by the approach of textbooks before the educational reform in 1976, when it was common for children in the first stage to acquire language material at school rather than through self-study at home. The content of the material is organized throughout the series so that the most difficult grammatical phenomena are covered in the first four months, allowing ample space for practice during the remainder of the school year. For our long-ago teachers summarized their experiences in the saying: 'Important material must be learned by Christmas; once the chestnuts bloom, school is over.'
