This Czech-language workbook on spelling comes from the Zatracená čeština series and supplements a new range of Czech-language textbooks for the first stage of primary school. It contains sets of exercises that teach children how to approach spelling i/y after paired consonants in the middle of a word, followed by practice to reinforce these procedures. The tasks are arranged into sequential teaching steps, clearly distinguished and defined graphically so that children can work independently. The workbook is intended for individual work under adult supervision. Its grammatical crossroads, or paths, help children learn to follow step-by-step procedures while also developing fine motor skills, spatial awareness and manual dexterity. At the end are cars bearing words, designed to be cut out and pasted onto the correct destination at the end of each path. The paths can also be used with exercises on the facing pages when a child has not yet internalized the steps or does not follow them, using a finger or pencil to trace the route.
