The textbook Czech Language 2 is the first in a series of textbooks published for the first stage of primary school and is part of the editorial series Damn Czech. Its content is based on the framework educational program for primary education. Its structure and didactic approach build on the editorial series Czech Language with Tobiáš, meaning it emphasizes a clear and algorithmically organized presentation of the material, visually uncluttered pages, and thorough explanations of language concepts in language appropriate to the cognitive prerequisites of first-stage students. In this, we were also inspired by the approach of textbooks before the educational reform in 1976, when it was common for children in the first stage to acquire language material at school rather than through self-study at home. The content of the material is organized throughout the series so that the most difficult grammatical phenomena are covered in the first four months, allowing ample space for their practice throughout the rest of the school year. For our long-ago teachers summarized their experiences in the saying: 'Important material must be learned by Christmas; once the chestnuts bloom, school is over.'
