Beschreibung
As he approaches his upcoming incredible ninetieth birthday, the renowned poet and translator Václav Daněk presents a new collection of poems titled Pistole z písku. In this work, the author opens up to readers his temperamental wine, matured with emotional depth and lifelong reflections, enhanced in a fateful cellar with a bottled bouquet, those guns buried in the sand and drawn from it. Even under the pressure of time, he does not succumb to reflection; with his playful irony, he targets ignorance and black-and-white thinking, sending his essences against the destructive indifference, yet he also sings of hopes whose lives are so tragically short. For Daněk, love often merges with freedom. The fear of losing it, of an unanchored democracy, along with the belief in preserving a dignified life, is also a central theme of this author's already fifteenth poetry book.
