Beschreibung
A selection from the short story works of a well-known American author of Czech descent takes readers to various corners of our globe – from the American Rockies to the Peruvian Amazon, the jungles of Colombian rainforests, the subtropical islands of the Florida Keys, or the crater of the extinct Japanese volcano Fuji, and even to the abandoned limestone quarries in Corsica or often to Prague. However, the common denominator of these prose pieces is always unexpected and exciting encounters, narrated with surprising authorial inventiveness. The stories were translated by J. Hojková and R. Křesťan, with illustrations by H. Robinson. J. Cervenka, a recipient of the Richard Sullivan Prize and several other awards, is not an unknown author in our country; Czech readers have already encountered his short story works in nearly a dozen titles.
