Beschreibung
Martin Heidegger’s treatise On the Essence of Ground was published shortly after Being and Time and developed alongside the lecture What Is Metaphysics? It raises the question of origin or ground in relation to a philosophical tradition extending from Plato and Aristotle through Leibniz and Kant to Schelling. Heidegger approaches the question with new radicality by placing it within the problem of transcendence and the freedom of Dasein. His discussion of transcendence, freedom and the transcendental concept of world also sheds clarifying light on several ideas from Being and Time and What Is Metaphysics? The work is significant for its presentation of the idea of the “ontological difference” between beings and Being, first formulated in The Basic Problems of Phenomenology in 1927, which Heidegger sees as grounded in the transcendence of Dasein. The Czech translation is presented in a parallel German-Czech edition and was prepared by Václav Němec. The contents are in Czech and German.
