Beschreibung
This book presents Marsilio Ficino’s Commentary on Plato’s Symposium, On Love, considered the finest and most influential of his writings. In imitation of Plato’s Symposium, relocated to Medici Florence, Ficino offers a synthesis of Platonism inspired by pagan and Christian authors of late antiquity, especially Plotinus, Augustine and Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite. Love is the central theme of this philosophy. Together with Dante, Ficino understands it as a divine force that, through the beauty of the beloved, leads the wayward human soul to knowledge of God. This is a Latin-Czech edition.
