Beschreibung
The story of the false messiah from the 17th century is not a classic historical prose but a psychological allegory about the social roles that the world imposes on us, from which we always want to break free, only to find that this can only be achieved at the cost of self-destruction. It mainly revolves around the drama of the meeting and symbiosis of two men: Adam Jakobi, a charismatic psychopath, an outsider, an instinctual man without higher intelligence, who longs to merge with the crowd and be so-called normal, without recurring explosions of uncontrolled behavior, and Natan from Lviv, a blind and hard-of-hearing young man with fragile bones and a frail body, who, although sixteen years younger than Adam, could never physically endure his mad life. For Natan has become merely a brain, who day and night devises plans to rise above humanity, to impose a new order, and to rule wisely and justly. And it is precisely the brilliant cripple Natan who understands that he must engage this animalistic madman and psychopath, who came to him in trust to heal his disorders, to present him to the world as the Prophet proclaiming the New Order.
