The book "Significance and Subjectivity in Lyricism" follows Jiráček's previous book "Lyric Rhythm" (Host 2007) and is also part of the cognitive stream of literary studies. The methodological starting point for the theoretical constructions is perception (as an act that establishes subjectivity), and the research of its movements is realized through psychosomatic tests on extensive samples of reader-competent Czech speakers (students of Czech studies at Czech universities). The starting concept of this work is Gärdenfors' conceptual space, which is understood as a theoretical conceptual space arising from generalizations of psychological conceptual spaces (in this case, psychosomatic tests) as the first theoretical constructions from individual consciousness. The main focus of this book is the forms of lexical semantics of Czech words and phrases in the value structure of the lyrical imagination guided by rhythm. The author draws on extensive empirical research into the perception of 67 four-line lyrical representations, which are segmented into more than a thousand words and phrases.
