Beschreibung

It was a tragic uniqueness. As the only Prime Minister of the countries occupied by Nazi Germany, General Alois Eliáš was brought before a firing squad. He was taken to the shooting range in Prague-Kobylisy on the evening of June 19, 1942. The day after the capture of the church on Resslova Street, where seven paratroopers fell in an unequal battle. Eliáš never met them. However, his efforts were identical to their mission. Only the method of fighting was different... Now he stands unbound, with his eyes uncovered. Outwardly manly, calm. Witnesses of the execution will later confirm this. But he will no longer be alive. Just before the order to fire, he removes his hat and throws it away. Not into the distance, but just to the eastern embankment, where the Prague Gestapo officer Fuchs and the commander of the Pankrác prison Soppa stand. He probably wanted to die bareheaded.
