The second, textually and visually richly expanded edition of the book about the Mauthausen concentration camp is a story of great pain, of death, but also of an enormous will to live. It is about what really happened and what should not be forgotten. The foundation of the book is the narrative of Mauthausen prisoner Hans Maršálek, which the author has processed and further supplemented with dozens of other stories, mainly of Czech prisoners. The rich visual supplement (an incredible more than seven hundred photographs and reproductions of documents) was organized and commented on by Jaroslav Čvančara.
