Beschreibung
In the foreword by doctor Radkin Honzák, we even find the term "unpathetic memoirs." It precisely captures the unassuming personality of the author, who describes his daily exhausting struggle with the bureaucratic power of socialist Czechoslovakia for the opportunity to organize a concert, to remind fans of the work of Voskovec & Werich & Ježek, or just to meet in the evening with the tramp bards Miki and Wabi Ryvol. Ivan Dvořák also fought his second, profoundly private war daily, namely against a serious illness. Satisfied and enthusiastic audiences usually sensed only a fraction of the literally superhuman effort that went into organizing concerts of well-known songwriters from Šafrán or the Spiritual Quintet; younger generations will never understand how many utterly irresponsible, malicious, and mostly cowardly people helped maintain the communist vision of culture. Ivan Dvořák did everything out of pure love for music, and his only reward was often the fleeting praise of visitors or musicians.
